delbert was letting his old four wheel drive truck idle along theough the ranch. he had picked up almost all the salt blocks and drained the last of the water from some of the water troughs. he was spattered with mud and was give out. but a couple times he had seen some of the cattle that he hoped to catch. but surpriseing ly enough he had also seen some yearling mavericks as well as the old outlaw cows and calves.he had a strong hope as to there being more of the yearlings. at each gate he found where cattle had drifted down down into the main pasture.every once in a while he found tracks going back into the other pastures and the tracks were of all sizes of cattle.as he drove along he kept watch for cattle in different bunchs , he was begining to suspition there was more cattle than the bank had stated. he had to be careful because he only had a bill of sale for a specified amount. how he would justify a larger number he didnt know yet. but the bank pulled a sneaky deal on him, he had no problem returning the favor. after he had unloaded the salt he had collected around the ranch he headed on back home. it was getting late and he was bone weary. he needed to go check with his dad on the progress of the lick tubs. every day he became more anxious as to gathering these cattle. the five paires he sold at the auction had brought even more than what he thought they were worth. if he had all these spoiled cattle gone would it be enough to stock his ranch with gentle cattle? he didnt know but he was hopeing.it would be a start. back at the house he did his chores then stumbled into the house. sitting on the kitchen table ws a note being held in place by a pint bottle of whiskey. the note read;" two more days for the first 10 tubs to be ready! in the refridgerator was a plate of sliced roast beef. his mom was still takeing care of him. he made a sandwich and got a cold soda and sat at the table. as he munched the sandwich he dreamed of catching all the brush snakes. he would have a day off tomorrow then the next put out the tubs. he wasnt dumb enough to think he would get a hundred percent of the cattle useing this method but he hoped for a big drag. but for now he was going to bed.
