TO FIND PEACE 5

the next morning at 4 a.m. the old rancher eased through the house. he turned the stove on under the coffee pot. as he walked by katey he noticed her blanket had slid to the floor and she was curled up on the couch/\. he took the blanket and spread it over her gently then went out the door to grain his horses when they came in from the pasture. he puttered around out side for a while doing little odds and ends so as not to wake up katey. presently he could smell bacon cooking. he went to the house to find katey standing at the stove frying bacon. " how do you like your eggs?" she asked as he came in the door. a cup of coffee sat at his place at the table. " over easy is fine. you just take over a mans outfit in one night. cleve chuckled as he pulled his chair out from the table. " just trying to make a hand ." katey winked at him. she placed a plate of bacon and eggs in front of him" i couldnt find anything to make biscuits from, sorry." " i ran out a week ago, need to restock i guess. " cleve explained. katey sat down with a plate and cup of coffee. " well i figgured if we are going to tackle that bank today we better be primed." she put a slice of bacon in her mouth" well this is pretty good, and your pretty first thing in the morning, how is it some elegible young man hasnt gathered you up?" cleve put a fork full of egg in his mouth. without looking up katey said" up until now i havent met a man worth haveing." cleve almost choked" whats that mean girl?" cleve asked. " i havent met anyone yet. is what i mean." katey got defensive.. cleve nodded and went back to eating. he had this plan almost worked out for the kj ranch but he didnt know if the bank was going to go for it, plus he had to deal with the dea that wouldnt be good.when he finished eating he sat back and picked up his coffee as he sipped the coffee he watched katey finish eating. when finished eating katey without a word picked up the dirty dishes and went to the sink. she started filling the sink with soapy water. " ime gonna clean up before we go. you want some time in the bathroom before we go?" cleve ask her as he passed her on the way to his bed room. " when your done. i dont need much." katey said as she scrubbed a plate.
