all the way back to the house jody kept saying" i told him not to come back i told him, he was going to shoot you, i told him i would shoot him." denton kept her at his side " its ok, some body some where was shoot him, it just turned out to be you, you saved my life. its ok."denton hugged her close. pearl stood on the porch wide eyed watching the whole affair. six weeks later denton popped the lines on the backs of a team hooked to a wagon filled with jodys house hold belongings.pearl had her a seat in the back on a folded quilt. the wagon also held building materiels for a room to be added on to the main cabin at the fw. three horses were tied to the back of the wagon as they rolled out of willcox. the judge had ruled that jody s shooting of abe had been justifyed. around town she was considedered a heroin. will was slowley healing and able to get up and around. he had held the sale of alvies belongings and raised another 900 dollers to go with the cash roll they had found. he opened a bank account with pearls name on it. denton had waitted around town makeing sure that everything was quiet and will wouldnt be faceing any trouble in his condition. by doing that he had also given jody and pearl time to pack and decide what they were going to take to the fw. on the sunday before they were going to leave denton came in to the boarding house and announced that jody and pearl were to get their sunday best on, they were going to church. when church services concluded denton took jody by the hand and walked her up the isle to the front of the church. there the minister performed the wedding ceramony. denton even had a gold ring to finalize the ceramony. will stood by as best man . as denton popped the lines down the backs of the team and started toward dos cabezas and the fw. he felt at last a feeling of completion. all the things he ever wanted were in this wagon and beside him. when they were leaveing town he tried to return his deputys badge to will. will refused it saying to keep it handing in case i need you. that badge along with dentons side arm was wrapped around by the gun belt and stored in a muslim sack in a trunk in the wagon. he didnt want to ever use it again.he headed the team into the early morning sun rise , with jody by his side he had a glad heart.
