terrie and hayden were sitting in the hall way out side the emergency room at the hospital. terrie was sniffling and hayden trying to comfort her. on the ambulance riode to the hospital from the arena the attendent had tryed to clean up the cut on the back of kents head. he had managed to stop the bleeding but only by pressing a wad of guaze to the cut and holding pressure to it. kent had passed out right after they left the arena. hayden had followed the ambulance . he had cussd imself for not listening to kent and selling the horse . now rattler was sold and kent was hurt. hayden had his arm around terries shoulder telling kent would be just fine when the double doors to the emergency room flung open and a gurney came through pushed by a attendent. on the gurney lay a long form covered in a white sheet from foot to over the head. upon seeing it terrie wailed " god he died!" hayden hugged her tight. the form on the gurney flung the sheet back" i aint dead! i justy covered up cause the lights were to bright. ime right here dear!"kent tried to sit up as he spoke. terrie rushed to him and wrapped her arms around his shoulders and buried her head in his shoulder sobbing. hayden stood there his mouth a gape.a doctor walked up behind the group "he has six stitches and a hair line crack in that hard head of his. i had to shave some of that hair to get it done.we are going to need to keep him here a day or two just to be sure hes ok. but my experiance with these cowboys it would take a ax to do him in." hayden stepped up" i need to go shoot that bronc, you warned me about what he was capable of." "no this wasnt his fault. poor judgment on my part. i should have never put that wore out halter on him and who would have thought the clown and the barrel would have come in early? the horse just acted like a horse. ship him to the buyers and we will call it good.ime going to rest here a few days so you gotta take care of the ranch until i get back. me and terrie gonna spend some time together."kent layed back down and smiled up at his wife.
