THE LETTER

Sissy stepped into the barn where Sam and Coaly were working on  a  briges and Stratton engine they used to pump water. in her hand was a envelope she had found stuck on a wire on her garden gate. she help it out to Sam who looked at it then took it. the serious look on her face told Sam all he needed to know. opening it he saw it was written in Spanish. altho he spoke it well he struggled when reading it. handing it back he said " whats it say sis?"
  a  tear rolled down her cheek as she took the letter back" the dead man who you found at the paradise?  he had a family in Altar. he worked for my step brother. he also  reported to your border patrol on the activities of that group of people. they found out about him and killed him. his family wants us to know that my step brother is the one making the money that is coming here and it is going  back into mexico at Juarez. . that's why there is no evidence in Arizona of it being spent. they want to know when my step brother will be arrested for killing their father? "
   Coaly looked from Sissy to Sam  his eyes wide" we got to get this to Eppi as soon as possible. at least they can stop the stuff from coming up here."
   Sam  took the letter and folded it back into the envelope and handed it to Sissy " put this away until we can see Eppi. he will need it. Coalie you want to go call Eppi and if he cant come here we will meet him some where.  this has to stop. good people are dieing and with us letting it through here we are responsible. I cant have that."
 Coaly roared out of the yard in a cloud of dust headed for a telephone. SISSY retreated to her garden and Sam  returned to work on the motor. as he was fumbling with the motor his mind kept tearing at the problem of who was handling the counterfit money and why was it going back into mexico.  there was a missing link that was holding things up.  the stuff was being made in mexico why then was it brought here then taken back?  it didn't seem to make sense.  the best Sam could figure there was a half million in  each of the packages and 3 of them that he was aware of had come across the boarder. one had been confiscated leaving a million in funny money floating around.  WHY?  and going BACK into mexico at another crossing.
  a hour later Coaly came back into the yard . he explained that Eppi was at the village of Pisinamo just south of the ranch. Ralston was going to radio him and have him come by the ranch later that afternoon. it would be  slow drive as the roads were in bad shape. 
  Sam wiped the oil from his hands and started to the house. he looked over his shoulder to Coaly as he went" lets eat lunch then maybe we can drive down to the reservation gate and meet him."
  coaly nodded then started to the house behind sam .things were heating up. he knew sam and when he had had enough  of something then he would act. and sam had enough !!
