with the n f r going on and the ice storms crossing the mcountry I thought ide relate this story. it didn't happen to me but one of the participates told it to me as the truth.
three good friends were traveling to a rodeo in the 40 s. in those days there wernt to many factory built trailers so these guys had the horse they shared in a home made trailer that had a old car axel under it. they were running late and instead of stopping for the nite decided to drive straight thru. during the nite they drove into a snow storm, kinda a freak thing as it was spring of the year. along about midnite the driver woke the other two telling them that they had a flat on the trailer. out side the pickup cab the snow was starting to swirl in the wind. after unloading the horse two of the cowboys slid a jack under the axel and jacked the flat tire off the ground. the third cowboy was putting a blanket on the horse and tying it in place. the first two began looking for a lug wrench that didn't exist, so began using a old cresant wrench to take the tire off and change it. the third cowboy was off the side of the road trying to start a fire. the first two struggling with the wrench and lug nuts noticed the third warming his hands over the hat full of fire. they hollered for him to come help!! he shook his head and with out looking up said" boys ime up in the morning and I might ark my hands on that ole wrench, no ill wait"!!
