BREEZY

for quiet  a few years I saw breezy floating around the feedlots, but we didn't work together until he was hired on at hughes and ganz.  and breezy sure fit. he was a good hand but that boy could talk.  the way he talked, why you would have thought he was john wayne, Randolph scott and johnny macbrown rolled into one!   he could rope in the arena a little, not bad, he was a fairly decent horseman until he lost his temper. then there was no telling what he would do.  I guess the best thing about him was the entertainment factor. he could jabber all day and keep everybody laughin. he was married to a mreal good red headed gal who just worshipped him.   one morning he came into the scale house with a real nervous attitude.  he came into the bosses office where dude and I were sitting waiting for the shipping orders that morning.  he broke into the conversation  and blurted out, he needed  the day off to go to town. all the while he was rubbing his but with both hands.  the boss said yeah if you really need to go but whats the matter? breezy then commenced to tell us he was in trouble with the irs, behind on his truck payment at the bank and irs might put him in the " big buller pen" and the bank was gonna repo his truck! all the while he was telling us this he kept rubbibf his butt. I guess the thought of that big buller pen was getting under his skin.  late that afternoon he came driven back from town in his truck pulling a new horse  horse trailer.!  when asked how he came out he told us that irs had forgiven his tax debt because he was poverty stricken working in a feedlot for less than minimum wage!  then he went to the bank, pitched the keys to his truck on the loan officers desk and told him he couldn't pay for it. the banker brought him back to a chair, reduced the monthly payment and loaned him enough to buy a horse trailer! we were all in shock! two weeks later breezy disappeared in the night. horse trailer and all. he left his wife , destitute and no means of support . she told one of our wives she had some family in Oregon. we took up a collection and bought her a bus ticket to Oregon.  a few days later the repo man for the bank showed up looking for them. we told the sad story and he went away.    we found out later she cashed in the bus ticket at the first chance she had and breezy picked her up there and they disappeared!
