a few years ago a mexican friend of mine came to me and stated he a reletive in mexico who had a bunch of corriente cattle from baja to sell. he was looking for a gringo who wasnt a border trader thinking he could get more for his cattle. i made a few calls and found some potential buys but also found out those cattle from baja had blood worms. when you dosed them with a dewormer the worms would clog the arteries and kill a bunch of them. so they had to bought real cheap.
so i decided to go look at these baja escapees and see what could be done. the mrs. wanted to go because she had never been in mexico other than border towns. i got my friend to drive while we were in mexico because it isnt real smart, even then, for a gringo to go roaming around mexico even if he speaks spanish like i do. about ten in the mornin we rolled into caborca. another hour or so and we found the pens where the cattle were being held. at on glance i knew these cattle wouldnt work. they had been on feed in a feedlot and were 150 pounds to heavy. the owner showed up and we visited and dickered for another hour. no deal. we went to another set of corrals and found the same deal, to heavy. more dickering, cussin in spanish and again no deal.
by now it is one p.m. our guide says he knows a great place to eat. the mrs. and i invision tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and rice and beans. the real deal in caborca , sonora mexico. we whiz down dirt streets, dodging mexican taxis and pedestrians. we whip into a clean little strip mall with a clean paved parking lot. our guide shows us to a resterant that has checkered table clothes , a clean floor and a sweet smell. we are unduly impressed, until a chineese /mexican comes out of the kitchen, 200 miles into mexico for chineese food!!
